At least 40 thousand people were forced to leave their homes because of warns of Mayon volcano eruption in the Philippines.

Over 12 thousand people have been evacuated, the Telegraph reported. 

According to the statement, as at January 17, totally 9,480 families / 38,939 people were affected and are currently in 30 evacuation centers.

On Monday, the representatives of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that Kamalag and Polangi were covered with a layer of ash because of the lava outflow. Local authorities abolished classes in the schools of the region. Emergency medical services are fully prepared for an eruption. Civil aviation aircraft are advised to avoid flights near the volcano.
