Who is Jack Brooksbank, the barman who won over a Princess? Eugenie's husband was once 'king of the Mayfair clubs' and worked for George Clooney's tequila brand - and even Prince Harry is a fan!

Since their wedding in October 2018, Jack Brooksbank has asserted himself as a companion Princess Eugenie can rely on, in happy times and through tougher ordeals.

The executive, 36, who works for in marketing and sales for financier Michael Meldman's property development business, Discovery Land Company in Portugal, met the royal in Verbier when he was 24 and she was 20.

Jack and Eugenie announced today that they are expecting their second child together, following the birth of their son August in February 2021.

Since their Windsor wedding four years ago, Jack has become a fixture of royal events and has won over the whole royal family, and has even won rare praise from his wife's cousin, the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle.

Jack is the son of the late George Edward Hugh Brooksbank, a chartered accountant who studied at Eton, and his wife Nicola, the great-granddaughter of both Sir Arthur Holland and Sir Frederick Charlton Meyrick, 2nd Baronet.

His great-grandfather, Sir John (Jack) Spencer Coke, was half-third cousin twice-removed of Princess Eugenie through Thomas Coke, 2nd Earl of Leicester.

As a child, Jack attended the Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, and later went on to study at the University of Bristol, although he left without completing his degree.

After dropping out of the University of Bristol without a degree, Jack worked as a bartender in his early 20s at a bar restaurant called the Devonshire Terrace when he met Eugenie in 2010

He began to work as a bartender in his early twenties, before turning general manager of Mahiki, a nightclub in Mayfair that was beloved by the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex.

As his career progressed, Jack later worked as a brand ambassador for Casamigos Tequila, a company famously co-founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman.

He was made European Brand Director of the £45-a-bottle tequila business in September 2018, just a month before he and Eugenie tied the knot at Windsor Castle.

Last year, Meldman offered Jack a role in the marketing, sales and promotion branch of his property developing business, Discovery Land Company in Portugal.

In addition to his career in marketing, Jack set up his own wine business in 2016, for the 'wholesale of wine, beer, spirit and other alcoholic beverages'.

He reported a  £630,000 profit at Jack Brooksbank Ltd, the business in 2022, from only £36,428 2021, recording an astonishing increase of almost £600,000, or more than 1,600 per cent.

'He's doing very well for himself,' one of his friends tells me.

Brooksbank, 36, is the sole director and sole shareholder in the business, whose accounts were filed at Companies House on Tuesday. There have never been any pay disclosures or turnover reported, though one member of staff has been reported as being employed, Richard Eden wrote for the Daily Mail last November.

The figures also reported a £781,619 increase in assets held, from £183,072 to £964,691 as at March 2022.

Eugenie and Jack met at the Verbier skiing resort in Switzerland in 2010, where Eugenie was holidaying with her family.

In 2018, Prince Andrew's youngest daughter revealed to the BBC that 'sparks' flew from the beginning between her and Jack, who was a friend of Prince Harry at the time.

The pair began dating, and after three years, went long-distance, while Eugenie split her time between London and New York after she took on a job with auction house Paddle8, based in Little Italy.

At the time, Jack told The Daily Mail: ‘We spend a lot of time on Skype. It’s great. We are still very much together.’

Throughout the 2010s, Eugenie and Jack would often be spotted going out together, sometimes accompanied by Prince Harry, 38, who enjoys a close relationship to his cousin.

In September 2016, Jack, who had then been dating Eugenie for six years, was invited to spend time with the royal family and the late Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral.

Rumours of an engagement began swirling, with one royal source telling the Daily Express at the time: 'There is no way he would be invited to stay with the Queen unless he was being welcomed into the royal fold and the bosom of the family.'

According to Prince Harry's memoir Spare, and his and his wife Netflix docuseries, Jack was also among the first members of the royal family to meet Meghan Markle in the early day of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's romance.

The Duke of Sussex wrote how Jack and Eugenie met Meghan during a dinner party in 2016 where they drank tequila and where he saw 'Euge hugging Meg, as if they were sisters.'

Speaking of Meghan meeting the first members of his family, he said she 'loved' Jack and Eugenie.

In the docuseries, titled Harry and Meghan, the couple recounted how Eugenie and Jack came to visit Meghan and Harry in Toronto in October 2016, where they all attended an apocalypse-themed party together at the city's branch of Soho House on the eve of Harry and his girlfriend's relationship being made public.

Harry also said that Meghan and him were 'deliriously happy' for Princess Eugenie when she got engaged to Jack, adding: 'since Jack was one of our favorite people.'

Eugenie and Jack's engagement was made public with an announcement released on January 22 2018.

The official Royal Family Twitter account said at the time: 'The Duke And Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank.'

The engagement occurred during a trip to Nicaragua the couple completed a month prior.

Speaking the engagement in a video for the Royal Family's YouTube page, Jack recounted how he popped the question in front of 'a beautiful volcano, [while] sun was setting, birds were flying.'

Eugenie added: 'The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen. I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon.'

The couple tied the knot during a grand ceremony at Windsor Castle's St George's Chapel in front of 850 guests.

After exchanging their vows the couple beamed as they walked out of the church and kissed in front of 1,200 people before their short carriage ride through Windsor and back to the castle for their reception.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson organised a raucous party for the newlyweds at their home of Royal Lodge.

According to reports at the time, Jack's wedding speech was ‘filled with devotion to Eugenie’ and he told his new wife she 'lights up his life and makes him feel complete'.

Jack's speech was so moving that it was reported Prince Andrew broke royal protocol to give him a hug during reception.

Two years after their wedding, the couple announced they were expecting via Instagram.

A statement from Buckingham Palace shared at the time said that her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II was 'delighted'.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Eugenie wrote: 'Jack and I are so excited for early 2021....,' alongside photos of baby slippers and her and Jack smiling.

Sarah Ferguson shared her own excitement in a separate Instagram post, writing: 'I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child. Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother. Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy.'

Eugenie's son, August, was born on February 9 2021, with Eugenie sharing a sweet black and white picture to share the news with the world.

Since becoming parents, Eugenie and Jack have enjoyed life away from the spotlight.

However, they have not been spared by controversy, and Jack made headlines a few months after August's birth, after he was photographed partying on a yacht with glamourous bikini-clad models while Eugenie stayed at home with their newborn child.

Rushing to his defence at the time, his mother-in-law Sarah Ferguson claimed Jack was one of her 'most favourite people' and defended him.

'Jack, who was on the front page, is a man of such integrity,' she said. 'He's just one of my most favourite people, I call him James Bond actually.

'He's just a superhero in my book, and he's a great father, a fabulous husband, and he's never at front of house, he always likes to be at the back.

'So for them to make this story is completely fabricated, he works as an ambassador for Casamigos, and he was on doing his job, and so I think it's really important that we clarify that for Jack's sake.'

Eugenie and her husband weathered the storm together, keeping a low profile, bar a few pictures shared by the royal on Instagram about their son's milestone throughout 2021 and 2022.

In 2021, Jack was one of the handful of royals who attended the intimate funeral for the late Duke of Edinburgh on April 17 in Windsor, and later attended a service of remembrance for Prince Philip in March 2022.

In happier times, the couple made their debut as a family during the late Queen's Jubilee celebrations in June when they attended the Platinum Pageant on The Mall with August, then 18 months, on June 5, 2022.

Jack and Eugenie also attended a service of thanksgiving for the late Sovereign's reign at Westminster Abbey, alongside other royals.

Jack was also by Eugenie's side as she wiped tears away at her grandmother's funeral on September 19 in London and Windsor.

Last October, Princess Eugenie shared a romantic note for husband Jack Brooksbank on social media as the couple celebrated four years of marriage.

The royal, 32, who shares son August, who is turning two next month, with her financier husband posted a black-and-white image of the couple in a royal carriage on their wedding day on October 12th 2018.

Eugenie, wrote to her 1.6million followers: 'Happy Anniversary my Jack. 4 years and counting.'

The couple announced today they are expecting their second child together, due to be born in the summer.

Announcing the news today, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: 'Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer.

'The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother.'

Moments later, Eugenie shared an adorable snap on her Instagram page, taken by her husband Jack, showing her young son kissing her stomach, writing: 'We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer.'

Shortly afterwards, Fergie shared a snap of her grandson August splashing about in the puddles, writing she was 'in Granny heaven.'
