Man with gunshot wounds airlifted after attempted home invasion

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (KWQC) - A man was shot and later airlifted following an attempted home invasion in Maquoketa Tuesday afternoon.
Officials from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said around 12:15 p.m., a Maquoketa resident called and said someone was trying to break into their home.
When deputies arrived, they found a man who had been shot several times. He was flown to Iowa City with serious injuries.
Officials said there is no current or ongoing threat to the public.
